A Summary of A Summer Soiree 2018

In 2014, what began as a single fundraising event for Community Action Council grew into a movement: the LexEndPoverty movement. LexEndPoverty raises public awareness about important issues that impact people living in poverty, and increases the Council’s capacity to help our participants become self-sufficient. Since then, the Council has also re-purposed its fundraising and branding to highlight the Council’s national promise: “Community Action Changes people’s lives, embodies the spirit of hope, improves communities, and makes America a better place to live. We care about the entire community, and we are dedicated to helping people help themselves and each other.”

For its third annual signature fundraiser, Community Action Council will host “A Summer Soirée” at The Mane on Main venue, in Lexington. This gala event will be hosted on Friday, September 7, 2018 from 7:00PM-12:00AM and is designed to continue the LexEndPoverty movement by bringing together members of the community to celebrate the impact of the Council’s ongoing work helping individuals and families move out of poverty.

The gala will open with live music from local acclaimed band, Honeychild, and will include hors d’oeuvres and signature cocktail beverages, exclusively selected for this event, for guests’ refreshment as they mingle through the venue. In adjoining galleries, live working artists will delight the guests with real-time portraiture and body painting. Guests will have the chance to express their inner child by sporting a whimsical face-painting, or to flaunt their glamour and sophistication by having their hands painted with elegant, intricate henna designs. Other featured artists will include those performing as living statues and flow artists.

In yet another gallery, guests will be invited to submit their bids for an array of alluring take-home items—from fine jewelry, to distinctive Bluegrass keepsakes, to high-demand adventure packages—that have been generously donated from over 50 local businesses, including the Louisville region. All proceeds from the silent auction, and also the live art auction, will support the Council’s ongoing operations—especially in the areas of early childhood and youth education.

For those partygoers who wished to capture memories of the night, a courtesy photo booth will be available, featuring special props and a back-drop celebrating the impact of Community Action Council on the community.
