SCHOOL READINESS GOAL: Children will explore their environments through observations, manipulation, asking questions, making predictions, and developing hypotheses.

Please choose one activity below, circle which one you completed, and sign when completed. Menus should be sent back when students return to school.

LIGHT AND SHADOW: Use a flashlight to make a light spot on the wall, never toward your infant’s eyes. Slowly move it up, down, and side to side as your infant watches.

WARM AND COOL: Let your infant touch a warm washcloth and then a cool metal spoon while you hold each item. Name each temperature and watch how your infant reacts.

WINDOW WEATHER WATCH: Sit safely by a window with your infant. Observe rain, snow, wind, clouds, or sunshine. Point to what you see, describe it, and imitate a weather sound together.

TEXTURE BASKET: Offer three large, infant-safe items with different textures, such as a washcloth, soft brush, and smooth cup. Let your infant touch each while you describe how it feels.
