SCHOOL READINESS GOAL: Children will engage in conversations, follow directions, and comprehend language.

Please choose one activity below, circle which one you completed, and sign when completed. Menus should be sent back when students return to school.

TOUCH YOUR TOES: During play, say one simple direction such as, “Touch your toes,” “Clap hands,” or “Give me the ball.” Gently help if needed and praise your infant’s response.

WHERE IS IT?: Ask, “Where is your cup?” or name another familiar object. Give your infant time to look, turn, point, or reach. Then name the object again and bring it closer.

TALK THROUGH THE DAY: During diapering or dressing, describe what you are doing: “Sock on. Other sock on.” Pause after short phrases so your infant can look, move, or vocalize.

BACK-AND-FORTH TALK: Listen for your infant’s coos, babbles, or sounds. Answer as if you are having a conversation. Pause for another response and repeat the back-and-forth exchange.

In addition to completing one of the above activities, please read together each NTI day.
