Look through the pictures before reading. Point, name one picture on each page, and allow your infant to touch or help turn the pages. NAME BOOK: Write your infant’s name in large letters on paper. Point to the letters and say, “This says your name.” Add a photo and let your infant look and touch. RHYME AND TAP: Say a short nursery rhyme while gently tapping the beat on your infant’s feet or hands. Repeat favorite sounds and pause to see if your infant moves or vocalizes. READ THE ROOM: Carry your infant around the room and point to a safe print, such as a food label or calendar. Say, "These words tell us something," and name one picture or word.
