SCHOOL READINESS GOAL: Children will be able to demonstrate age-appropriate emergent literacy skills that lead to print knowledge and the awareness that print conveys meaning.

Please choose one activity below, circle which one you completed, and sign when completed. Menus should be sent back when students return to school.

POINT OUT PRINT EVERYWHERE: Help children notice words and letters in everyday places: food boxes, signs, store labels, mail, street signs. Talk about how print gives us information.

NAME RECOGNITIONACTIVITIES: Help your child recognize their name. Examples: make a name card, find their name or papers or labels, build their name with magnetic letters.

LETTER HUNT: Search for letters around your home or while traveling. Ask, "Can you find the letter B?" "What letter does your name start with?"

ENVIRONMENTAL PRINT MATCH: Cut out labels or logos from familiar products. Help your child match them to items around the house. Discuss that words and symbols have meaning.

In addition to completing one of the above activities, please read together each NTI day.
