Fayette County Head Start Enrollment Days May 1-2

Community Action Council operates Head Start in 15 central and south central Kentucky counties.

Head Start is a federally-funded, comprehensive, high-quality early childhood education program for children and families with low income.

Head Start provides children from birth to age five with a range of services to promote their school readiness and overall well-being, while also supporting their families.

The Head Start programs are enrolling for the 24-25 school year!

For families living in Fayette County, we have a new initiative this year called Enrollment Days.

Dates: May 1 or May 2; 10:00am – 4:00pm
Location: 913 Georgetown Street, Lexington

Join us! Our trained staff will be on hand to answer questions and support parents/guardians to complete the Head Start enrollment application, conduct some of the required child health screenings (with parent consent) and share about some of the other programs that Community Action Council offers. We will have snacks and giveaways too!

To ensure their child’s enrollment is complete, parents/families must bring with them proof of income eligibility, program eligibility and health requirement documentation.

Bring one of the following items to verify income eligibility:

  • Proof of Income (W-2, 1040, or gross income for last calendar year, including employer statement)
  • Proof of Public Assistance (KTAP, SNAP, SSI statement)
  • Proof of Foster/Kinship Care
  • Proof of Homelessness (statement of Homelessness)

Bring one of the following to verify program eligibility:

  • Proof of child’s age (official birth certificate, hospital record, legal document with child’s name and date of birth)
  • Pregnant people wanting to enroll in Early Head Start—proof of pregnancy (sonogram, doctor’s statement)
