Pre-registration for Home Energy Assistance Begins Oct. 15

Community Action Council for Lexington-Fayette, Bourbon, Harrison, & Nicholas Counties will begin the pre-registration period for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) Fall Subsidy on October 15, 2024.

Pre-registration for LIHEAP Fall Subsidy is open to people 60 or older and those with disabilities. The pre-registration period begins on October 15 and runs through October 29, 2024. The appointment scheduler for all others will open on October 31, 2024, with appointments available starting on November 6th.

LIHEAP Fall Subsidy is designed to help offset the cost of home heating across various fuel types, including electric, natural gas, propane, coal, wood, and fuel oil.

Eligible households can apply for a one-time benefit depending on housing category, fuel type, and income level to offset the cost of their household’s home heating costs.

The benefits are paid directly to the household’s energy vendor. Benefits will be paid after November 6th for all those who pre-register.

Applications will be accepted during the enrollment period or until designated funds are depleted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Income eligibility for the program is up to and including 150% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines.

LIHEAP is available in all Kentucky counties. Community Action Council administers the program in Lexington-Fayette, Bourbon, Harrison, and Nicholas counties. To locate the agency responsible for LIHEAP in your county, visit capky.org.
